A sea freight service where smaller shipments from multiple shippers are consolidated into a single container.
LCL stands for Less than Container Load. It is designed for shippers whose cargo is not large enough to fill a standard 20ft or 40ft shipping container. Freight forwarders consolidate cargo from multiple clients into one container. You only pay for the volume (Cubic Meters/CBM) your cargo occupies. While it is cost-effective for small volumes, LCL transit times are usually longer than FCL due to the consolidation and deconsolidation (unpacking) processes at origin and destination ports.
